ADVANCED MANUFACTURING CONSOLIDATES JOB GAINS

Advanced manufacturing jobs as posted on Indeed.com as a percent of total jobs (job intensity) is steady for July 2018 from April 2018, consolidating the overall growth trend (Chart 1).  Year-on-year, the United States, Northwest Florida (NWFL), and Florida job intensities are up 12% – 19%.

Relative to the United States, NWFL continues to outperform (Chart 3) coming in with an advanced manufacturing index (AM Index) value of 1.08 where the United States is 1.00.  Florida is at an AM Index of 0.63, below its 0.68 index one year ago.  California leads the country leader with an AM Index of 1.44.  The AM Index is derived by dividing the region-specific job intensity by the national job intensity.
